Hello Ruth

I was really inspired by this poem.
I've been interested in lead mining for a good few years and explored a few old lead mines.
Although there is lots of written material on the geology and technical aspects of lead mining, there seems to be very little on the life of the miners themselves.
This poem offers a really evocative picture of the of the typical leadminer/farmer of the Peak in the late 18th and 19th centuries. It seems to be written with genuine admiration and affection for the subject and allows the reader to imagine this man, his family, his home and his work.
